Bihar Election Update: NDA Leads, Modi Hails “Victory of Good Governance”

The electoral picture in Bihar has become clear. Out of 243 assembly seats, the NDA is heading towards a record win with 203 seats, while the Mahagathbandhan is set to secure 35 seats. Prime Minister Narendra Modi posted on X, calling the result a “victory of good governance.”
Compared to the 2020 elections, the NDA has gained over 70 seats, while the Mahagathbandhan has suffered a similar loss. Amid the sweeping victory, leaders Samrat Chaudhary and Lalan Singh met with Chief Minister Nitish Kumar.
The JDU’s tally has increased significantly, from 43 seats in the previous election to over 80 this time. The BJP emerged as the largest party with 91 seats.
Among prominent leaders, Tejashwi Yadav retained his Raghopur seat by a margin of around 12,000 votes. However, his elder brother Tej Pratap appears headed for defeat in Mahua, and Jyoti Singh, wife of Pawan Singh, is trailing as well.
Within the Mahagathbandhan, RJD is leading in 27 seats and Congress in 4. Jan Suraj and VIP parties have not secured any lead so far. Independents and others are ahead in 6 seats.
Union Home Minister Amit Shah congratulated the winners on X, describing the mandate as a “strong response from the public to those protecting infiltrators.” PM Modi is scheduled to visit the BJP office in Delhi at 6 PM.
