Rajasthan Chief Secretary V. Srinivas conducted a three-hour inspection of the Mansarovar police station in Jaipur on Sunday, focusing on staffing shortages, operational constraints and day-to-day policing challenges. The visit aimed to assess ground-level functioning and gather direct feedback from police personnel.
Srinivas arrived at the police station around 3:30 pm and toured the facility until 6:30 pm, reviewing basic infrastructure, work systems and service delivery mechanisms. He interacted extensively with officers and staff, seeking inputs on law and order management, crime control, public grievance redressal and the use of technology in policing. The Chief Secretary assured personnel that steps would be taken to address manpower shortages at the earliest.
During the inspection, Srinivas reviewed the implementation of newly enacted laws and sought updates on actions taken so far. Officers briefed him on the handling of women-related offences, cybercrime cases and the status of the Crime and Criminal Tracking Network and Systems (CCTNS). He stressed that police stations are the first point of contact for citizens and underscored the need for sensitivity, transparency and prompt response in dealing with public complaints.
In a gesture aimed at boosting morale, the Chief Secretary shared a meal with officers and staff at the police station mess. He later held an informal interaction where personnel spoke about work-related pressures, family concerns and challenges faced during long duty hours. Srinivas assured them of improved resources and better working conditions.
Senior officials accompanying the Chief Secretary included Director General of Police Rajiv Sharma, Additional Director General (Crime) Hawa Singh Ghumaria, Jaipur Police Commissioner Sachin Mittal, Special Commissioner Rahul Prakash and Additional Commissioner Dr Rajiv Pachar.
Officials said such field visits help senior administrators gain a clearer understanding of operational realities and enable more responsive policy decisions. The Chief Secretary reiterated the state government’s commitment to strengthening police infrastructure and manpower to improve service delivery and public trust.
The visit is part of a broader effort to review policing standards and ensure effective implementation of reforms at the grassroots level across Rajasthan.
