CM Rekha Gupta Reviews Delhi Master Plan 2041

Chief Minister Rekha Gupta convened a high-level meeting to review the Delhi Master Plan-2041. Key urban development policies will be formulated to shape the future growth and infrastructure of the capital.
Delhi Chief Minister Rekha Gupta has today called a high level meeting to review the provisions of the pending Delhi Master Plan (MPD) 2041. The Delhi Development Authority (DDA) had submitted a draft plan to the Center in April 2023, which has not yet received approval from the Union Ministry of Housing and Urban Affairs.
According to sources, in this meeting, a detailed presentation will be made on the draft plan before senior officials including the Vice Chairman of DDA, Chief Minister and heads of departments related to industry, environment and revenue. The meeting will focus on industrial development, in which the Delhi government plans to develop about 1,200 acres of area in Kanjhawala, Ranikhet and Baprola under the Public-Private Partnership (PPP) model.
These clusters are being developed to attract service sectors such as information technology, artificial intelligence (AI), biotechnology and research, which is likely to generate lakhs of employment opportunities in the capital. Officials said the assistance of a global consulting firm may be taken to finalise the development model. Delhi Lieutenant Governor VK Saxena approved the draft of MPD-2041 in a meeting held on February 28, 2023, and he is also the chairman of the DDA.
The first master plan came into effect in 1962 under the Delhi Development Act, 1957. These master plans are made for a period of 20 years and present an overall framework for the planned development of the city.
