Congress Targets Administration Over Fake Fertiliser, Hospital Fire and Law-and-Order Issues in Rajgarh

The Congress on Tuesday launched a sharp attack on the district administration in Rajgarh, alleging large-scale supply of fake fertiliser to farmers, corruption in the district hospital, and a deteriorating law-and-order situation. The allegations were made at a press conference held at the District Congress office by former minister and district Congress president Priyavrat Singh, in the presence of former MLA Hemraj Kalponi and senior leader Bapusingh Tanwar.
Addressing the media, Priyavrat Singh claimed that the party possessed “concrete evidence” of substandard and fake fertiliser being sold to farmers across the district. He referred to the recent seizure of NPK fertiliser of Coromandel company from Biaora, following complaints by farmers that the fertiliser contained sand. Subsequent laboratory testing, he said, confirmed that the fertiliser failed to meet prescribed quality standards.
Singh alleged that although the adulterated fertiliser had already reached several farmers, the administration limited its action to a single location. “This selective action indicates an attempt to suppress the issue instead of addressing it comprehensively,” he said, demanding accountability from the authorities.
Former MLA Hemraj Kalponi elaborated on the laboratory findings, stating that the seized NPK fertiliser showed excessive moisture and significantly lower levels of essential nutrients such as nitrogen and urea, while the sand content was abnormally high. He alleged collusion between certain officials of the agriculture department and fertiliser companies, allowing such products to be sold openly. “Farmers are bearing the losses, while those responsible are being shielded,” Kalponi said.
The Congress demanded that Coromandel company be blacklisted, the entire fertiliser stock in the district be sealed, FIRs be registered against responsible officials and suppliers, and affected farmers be compensated. The party also sought loan waivers for farmers who suffered crop damage due to the use of fake fertiliser.
The press conference also focused on the law-and-order situation in Rajgarh. Singh expressed concern over a recent robbery in the Sarafa market, saying traders were living in fear as the accused were yet to be arrested. He said merely announcing rewards was insufficient and called for swift and strict police action to restore confidence.
Additionally, Congress leaders raised questions over the recent fire in the district hospital store room. Singh alleged large-scale corruption in the hospital and claimed that after the fire incident, the administration conducted only a superficial inquiry without constituting an expert committee. “There is a clear attempt to downplay the incident and conceal irregularities,” he alleged.
The Congress warned that if corrective action was not taken promptly, it would intensify its agitation to protect farmers’ interests and ensure administrative accountability.
