Himachal CM slams PM’s relief: 'Aid not yet received'

Himachal Pradesh Chief Minister Sukhwinder Singh Sukhu criticised Prime Minister Narendra Modi after returning from London. Speaking to the media in Shimla today (Tuesday), he said that although the PM announced ₹1,500 crore for disaster relief, no trace of the aid has been seen so far
He said that when the state is reeling under disaster and people are suffering, relief must reach immediately. Aid arriving two years later would be of no benefit.
PM Modi had visited Himachal on 9 September and announced a relief package of ₹1,500 crore. However, no notification has been issued on how or in what form the funds will be released. CM Sukhu has sharply questioned this delay. He assured that the state government will extend all possible assistance to the disaster-affected. Families whose houses were destroyed will receive ₹7 lakh each to rebuild. Those who lost belongings, livestock, fields, orchards or shops will also be supported.
On the Kangra Central Cooperative Bank issue, CM Sukhu said, “Our government did not seek One Time Settlement (OTS). Such settlements require RBI’s approval.” He explained that irregularities had persisted in the bank for seven to eight years, leading him to dissolve the entire Board of Directors. The Enforcement Directorate is now investigating, and the truth will soon emerge. He stressed that loan settlements should benefit farmers.
Health Minister Dhani Ram Shandil, Sukhu clarified that any such tour must be approved by the Chief Minister. As no approval was granted, he said, creating a controversy over it was unnecessary.
Responding to opposition criticism of his own London trip, Sukhu said he travelled for his daughter’s admission, which was earned on merit. He insisted not a single rupee of government funds was spent. He added that even while abroad, he remained in daily contact with the Chief Secretary and ministers. He urged the BJP not to politicise personal family matters
