Navneet Chaturvedi, the national president of the Janata Party and a Rajya Sabha candidate from Punjab, has reached out to Chandigarh's Director General of Police (DGP) for personal protection. He claims he's facing threats from the Punjab government.
In his letter to the DGP, Chaturvedi explained that Punjab CID teams and people connected to the Aam Aadmi Party have been tailing him without any official reason over the past few days. He also accused them of trying to tap his phone and keep tabs on his whereabouts.
Chaturvedi said he has to stay in Chandigarh until the Rajya Sabha voting wraps up on October 24, and he's hosting a dinner there that same evening after the vote. He's asked for enough security to be arranged during this time.
