Political tension brews in Karnataka as the Chief Minister's son sharply responds to a statement made by an MLA backing Deputy CM D.K. Shivakumar. The remarks have sparked speculation about internal rifts within the ruling party ahead of crucial political developments.
Amid speculation of leadership change in the ruling Congress in Karnataka, Ramnagar Congress MLA Iqbal Hussain has claimed that Deputy Chief Minister DK Shivkumar can become the Chief Minister of the state in the next two to three months. Hussain is one of the MLAs considered close to Shivakumar. Earlier, Cooperation Minister KN Rajanna, close to Chief Minister Siddaramaiah, had also hinted at a change in the ruling Congress.
Shivakumar's strategy recorded in history
Speaking to reporters in Ramnagar on Sunday, Iqbal said that everyone knows what was the strength of the Congress in the state before coming to power. Everyone knows who struggled, sweated, tried and showed interest for the victory of the Congress. Shivakumar's strategy and his programs have now been recorded in history.
High command aware of the situation
He said that he does not believe in speculations. He is confident that the party high command is aware of the situation and the right decision will be taken at the right time. When asked whether Shivakumar, who is also the state Congress president, will become the CM this year? Hussain said yes. He knows that he will become the CM. The decision will be taken within two to three months. He is not talking in a roundabout way. He is speaking straight. The leaders who are giving the date till September are talking baseless things. When asked that Chief Minister Siddaramaiah's son and MLC Yatindra Siddaramaiah has termed the talk of changing the Chief Minister as mere speculation, Hussain said that he was also in Delhi when the party high command decided to form the government after the 2023 assembly elections. Sonia Gandhi, Rahul Gandhi and Mallikarjun Kharge decided then and the same people will decide now. Just watch and wait.
Siddaramaiah will remain CM for full five years: Yatindra
Dismissing the speculations of leadership change, Chief Minister's son and MLC Yatindra Siddaramaiah said that his father and Chief Minister Siddaramaiah has the full support of the Congress high command as well as party MLAs. The government is working very smoothly and there is no obstacle in it. The Congress high command has neither spoken about leadership change nor has given any such indication. Therefore, Siddaramaiah will remain in office for full five years.
On the comments of Minister K.N. Rajanna, Yatindra said, only the minister can clarify the context of his statement. He said that such rumours have been spreading since the formation of the government. There was a discussion from the beginning that Siddaramaiah would be removed within six months. Later it was said that he would be replaced after the Mysore Urban Development Authority (MUDA) case came to light. But nothing like this happened. Yatindra downplayed the speculations and said that it is common in politics.
