Kejriwal Attacks PM Modi Over Trump Tariff

AAP's National Convenor and former Chief Minister of Delhi Arvind Kejriwal has spoken for the first time on the 50% US tariff on India. Arvind Kejriwal held a press conference and made a volley of allegations on the Modi government. Kejriwal said that Trump is a coward, don't know why Modi ji is like a wet cat in front of him. He said that Modi ji has reduced the import duty on cotton coming from America. This will harm Indian farmers.

He said that in protest against this, Aam Aadmi Party (AAP) will protest against it in Gujarat on 7 September.

Arvind Kejriwal criticized the tariff policy of former US President Donald Trump. He said that Trump has bowed down in front of those countries which have stood strongly against him. Don't know what is the compulsion of Prime Minister Modi that he is not saying anything. If Trump has imposed 50 percent tariff on Indian goods, then we should have imposed 100 percent tariff on American goods. Are we a weak country? This is a country of 140 crore people. We have a very big market.

The National Convenor of AAP said that PM Modi has taken some decisions behind our back which is a big betrayal to the farmers of the whole country. Recently, under the pressure of Trump and America, it has been decided that the cotton which comes to India from America, till now, had 11% duty on it. Recently, the Modi government has decided that the 11% duty which was imposed on cotton coming from America has been removed.

Now from 19 August to 30 September, i.e. for 40 days, there will be no duty on cotton coming from America. Now the cotton which will come or has started coming from America is roughly 15-20 rupees per kg cheaper than the cotton of Indian farmers in India.

Kejriwal said that this will affect the farmers of states like Gujarat, Telangana, Punjab and Vidarbha. This is the area where most farmers commit suicide. He said that Trump has imposed 50% tariff on cotton. We should also have increased the tariff on cotton from 11% to 50%.

Kejriwal called Trump a 'coward'. He said that exports stopped due to Trump's tariff. Kejriwal said that India is a country of 140 crore people. This is not just an issue of industry, but of the country's honor. He said that 140 crore countrymen are standing with the country.
