Kejriwal condemns attack on CM Rekha Gupta

Calling the incident shameful, Arvind Kejriwal said there is no place for violence in democracy.

Delhi Chief Minister Rekha Gupta was attacked during a public hearing at her residence on Wednesday morning. A man suddenly slapped her. The security personnel present on the spot immediately overpowered the attacker and handed him over to the police. The accused has been identified as Rajesh Bhai Sakaria, resident of Rajkot, Gujarat. After the incident, he has been taken into custody and is being questioned. Former Delhi Chief Minister and AAP Convenor Arvind Kejriwal strongly condemned this attack.

Aam Aadmi Party supremo and former Delhi Chief Minister Arvind Kejriwal has reacted to this incident. He said, "The attack on Delhi Chief Minister Rekha Gupta is highly condemnable. Difference of opinion and protest is acceptable in a democratic system, but there can be no place for violence. I am confident that Delhi Police will take appropriate action. Hope the Chief Minister is completely safe and healthy. I hope Delhi Police will take appropriate action in this matter."

Saurabh Bhardwaj reminded of attacks on Kejriwal

Former Delhi government minister Saurabh Bhardwaj condemned the incident and attacked the BJP. He said that whenever there were attacks on Arvind Kejriwal, the BJP tried to justify them. “During this election too, Kejriwal was attacked by a staunch BJP supporter. At that time, the BJP had said that he was a civil defence volunteer and was angry with Kejriwal. Whenever Kejriwal was attacked, the BJP said that people were angry. But we will not say so. We know that people are angry with Rekha Gupta, but anger does not mean that you resort to violence. Violence is wrong and everyone should condemn it. The attack should not be justified like the BJP did after the attacks on Kejriwal.”

AAP Leader of Opposition Atishi said

"The attack on Delhi Chief Minister Rekha Gupta is highly condemnable. There is a place for disagreement and protest in democracy, but there is no place for violence. Hope Delhi Police will take strict action against the culprits. Hope the Chief Minister is completely safe."
