Mamata Banerjee Hits Out at EC, Refuses to Suspend Officers

West Bengal CM Mamata Banerjee strongly criticized the Election Commission, declaring she won’t suspend any officer. She also voiced her firm stance against NRC implementation.

Bengal Chief Minister Mamata Banerjee on Wednesday attacked the Central Election Commission for suspending four state officials and a data entry operator over irregularities in preparing the voter list.

Questioning the legality of the Commission's move, she directly challenged it and clearly said that I will not suspend any of my officers. Addressing the gathering after leading a massive foot rally in Jhargram against the alleged harassment of Bengali-speaking migrants outside the state, Mamata called the Commission a puppet of the BJP and reiterated the allegation of working at its behest. Said which law allows them to be suspended at this time?

Mamata also called the Election Commission a bonded laborer of the BJP and said that the Commission is working as an agent of Home Minister Amit Shah and the BJP. It is known that Mamata's remarks came a day after the Commission suspended four officials of Bengal. All four are officers of the West Bengal Civil Services (WBCS). The Election Commission has also directed to register an FIR against these officials.

I will not let NRC be implemented'

Mamata also attacked the Center, Assam Government and Home Minister Amit Shah on the issue of NRC and Special Intensive Revision (SIR) of Voter List. She said that there is a conspiracy to implement NRC in Bengal on the pretext of SIR, she will never accept it. I will lose my life, yet I will not let NRC be implemented.

'Amit Shah should first show his birth certificate'

Targeting Home Minister Amit Shah, Mamata challenged him to first show his birth certificate. She said that BJP is planning to delete the names of Bengal voters in the name of SIR by citing old documents, due to which people are scared. Mamata said that whether she is arrested or shot, she will continue to oppose the injustice against the Bengali language.
