Mayawati Slams Odisha Incident: ‘Shaving Heads, Feeding Grass is Inhuman

BSP Chief Mayawati expressed strong anger over the incident in Odisha where young men were forcibly shaved and made to eat grass as punishment. Calling it a "very inhuman act," she demanded strict action and urged authorities to uphold human dignity and constitutional values.

Recently some people in the district behaved inhumanely with two young men. People tortured both the young men. They made them walk around after shaving their heads. Mayawati has targeted this. She wrote on Instagram that 'In Ganjam district of Odisha state, some casteist organizations tied the hands and legs of two Dalit young men and beat them brutally, cut half of their hair, forced them to walk on their knees, and drink dirty water from the drain, these are very inhuman acts, which cannot be condemned enough.

Mayawati further wrote that 'Along with the Odisha government, the central government should also take cognizance of this incident and take strict legal action against all the culprits, so that such a heinous incident does not happen again. This is everyone's demand.

In fact, two Dalit young men were beaten badly on suspicion of cow smuggling. Their heads were shaved and they were forced to crawl on their knees, eat grass and drink drain water. The video of the incident went viral on social media. This incident took place in Khariguma village on June 22.

According to the police, Babula Nayak and Bulu Nayak, residents of Singipur village, were taking two cows and a calf from Haripur area to their village. Gau-rakshaks stopped them in Khariguma village. They demanded Rs 30,000 from them. When both of them refused, they were beaten up.
