The Election Commission of India has removed 1,52,684 names from the electoral rolls across Ajmer district following a Special Intensive Revision (SIR) exercise, officials said on Tuesday. The deletions span all six Assembly constituencies in the district and form part of a statewide effort to clean and update voter records ahead of future elections.
According to the draft list of ASD (Absent, Shifted and Dead) voters released by the Commission, the largest number of deletions resulted from voters shifting out of their registered addresses. A total of 94,194 voters were found to have relocated, making up more than half of the removals.
Another 36,826 names were deleted after official verification confirmed the voters had died. The exercise also identified 9,334 duplicate entries, while 11,799 voters were marked absent during door-to-door verification. An additional 585 names were removed for other administrative reasons.
Before the revision, Ajmer district had 15,07,499 registered voters. After the deletions, the updated roll now stands at 13,54,815 voters.
Ajmer District Collector Lok Bandhu said the administration would begin issuing notices to affected voters from December 17. “Voters whose names have been deleted will receive formal notices. They will have the opportunity to submit their responses along with supporting documents to seek restoration of their names,” he said.
Officials clarified that the current list is a draft and that eligible voters who believe their names were wrongly removed can file objections within the stipulated period. Applications for correction or re-inclusion can be submitted at the respective Electoral Registration Officer’s office or through the Election Commission’s online portal.
The Special Intensive Revision aims to improve the accuracy of electoral rolls by eliminating outdated, duplicate and ineligible entries, while ensuring that genuine voters are not excluded. The final voter list will be published after the completion of the claims and objections process.
