Pawan Singh Rules Out Contesting Bihar Assembly Polls

Bhojpuri superstar Pawan Singh has officially announced that he will not contest in the upcoming Bihar Assembly elections, clarifying that his association with the Bharatiya Janata Party (BJP) is rooted in loyalty, not political ambition. The declaration comes amid ongoing tensions with his wife Jyoti Singh, who met political strategist and Jan Suraaj chief Prashant Kishor a day earlier to discuss personal grievances.

Pawan Singh’s Social Media Clarification

In a social media post on Saturday, Pawan Singh addressed his fans and supporters, writing:

“I, Pawan Singh, want to tell my Bhojpuri community that I did not join the BJP to contest elections. Nor do I intend to do so. I am a true soldier of the party and will remain one.”

His statement put an end to speculation about his political intentions, reiterating his unwavering commitment to the BJP.

Jyoti Singh Meets Prashant Kishor

Meanwhile, Pawan Singh’s wife Jyoti Singh met Prashant Kishor, the founder of Jan Suraaj, on Friday. During their 20-minute meeting, she reportedly spoke about the injustices she has faced and expressed that “no other woman should have to go through similar circumstances.”

Recent Interactions with BJP Leadership

In recent weeks, Pawan Singh met Union Home Minister Amit Shah and BJP National President JP Nadda in Delhi, sparking rumours about his return to the party fold. Addressing the speculation, Singh remarked,

“I never left the BJP — only circumstances were different.”

Party insiders believe his return could strengthen the BJP’s influence in the Shahabad region, which includes 22 Assembly seats across Bhojpur, Buxar, Rohtas, and Kaimur districts.

Official Return to BJP

Pawan Singh rejoined the BJP on 30 September 2025, with the event coordinated by Bihar BJP in-charge Vinod Tawde. Earlier that day, Singh, along with Tawde and BJP leader Rituraj Sinha, met RLM chief Upendra Kushwaha in Delhi to seek his blessings.

Later, he held a 20-minute meeting with Amit Shah, after which Tawde officially announced Singh’s return, stating that the actor would work as a dedicated BJP karyakarta (worker) to strengthen the NDA alliance.

Photos from the Delhi meetings showed Singh receiving a warm embrace from Upendra Kushwaha, symbolizing his full reintegration into the NDA’s political framework.

Political Background

Pawan Singh first entered politics in 2017 when he joined the BJP. However, during the 2024 Lok Sabha elections, he contested independently from Karakat, challenging the party’s official candidate. This act led to his expulsion from the BJP on 22 May 2024, despite his position as a member of the state working committee.

Exit from Reality Show

Ahead of the state elections, Singh also withdrew from the reality show Rise and Fall, hosted by entrepreneur Ashneer Grover. Explaining his decision, he said:

“My public is my God, and during elections, my duty is to be among them.”

Support from Upendra Kushwaha

Pawan Singh’s renewed bond with Upendra Kushwaha further consolidated his political re-entry. The RLM leader extended full support, emphasizing Singh’s cultural and political influence in Bihar.

Born on 5 January 1986 in Ara, Bihar, Pawan Singh is one of the biggest names in Bhojpuri cinema and music. His career took off with the hit song “Lollipop Lagelu” in 2008, which became an international Bhojpuri anthem. Over the years, he has starred in several blockbuster films such as Pratigya, Crack Fighter, Dhadkan, and Har Har Gange, earning a devoted fan base across India and abroad.

Despite personal and political turbulence, Pawan Singh’s latest statement underscores his **commitment to the BJP and his Bhojpuri audience
