Rajasthan Assembly Ethics Panel Resummons Three MLAs in Commission Probe

The Rajasthan Legislative Assembly's Ethics Committee has issued fresh summons to three MLAs accused of seeking commissions from local area development funds, scheduling a joint hearing on January 6.

The lawmakers—BJP's Revantram Danga (Khinvsar), Congress's Anita Jatav (Hindaun), and Independent Ritu Banawat (Bayana)—must appear together with all supporting evidence.

Committee chairman Kailash Verma announced the unified date after the trio failed to convincingly clear their names during individual questioning on December 19.

They had requested extensions: Danga sought 15 days, Jatav seven, and Banawat ten. The panel granted time but opted for a single session to streamline proceedings.

Verma emphasised a thorough, impartial inquiry, urging the MLAs to submit documents, statements, and any audio-visual material. If they dispute the authenticity of the journalist-provided sting video, it could be forwarded for forensic examination at a state lab.

In a related matter, the committee has summoned Bharatiya Adivasi Party (BAP) MLA Jaikrishna Patel from Bagidora on January 7, along with the Anti-Corruption Bureau (ACB) officer probing his case.

Patel was arrested by ACB on May 4 for allegedly accepting a bribe. The panel plans to wrap up its report on both issues ahead of the late-January budget session.

Should responses on January 6 prove unsatisfactory, further notices may follow before final recommendations are drafted.

The probes underscore ongoing efforts to uphold legislative standards amid allegations of misconduct.
