Rajasthan BJP Appoints Only 7 Women Among 44 District Presidents
Rajasthan
The Rajasthan BJP has assigned only 7 out of 44 district president positions to women, falling significantly short of the 33% reservation target for women in leadership roles, highlighting a gender imbalance in organizational representation.
BJP has appointed presidents in all its 44 district organizations. Out of these 44, women have been appointed presidents in only seven. If seen in terms of percentage, it comes to only about 15 percent. Whereas, BJP was giving the message for the last several days that women will be given at least 33 percent reservation in the organization.
The party has appointed women district presidents only in Bikaner city, Jhunjhunu, Dausa, Bharatpur, Nagaur Rural, Jodhpur Rural North, Sirohi. Out of these seven districts, BJP made appointments instead of adopting the election process in Jhunjhunu, Dausa, Jodhpur Rural North due to controversy. If the party had appointed district presidents as per 33 percent, then women would have had to be given the post of district president in at least 15 district organizations.
The party has not been completely successful in giving 33 percent reservation to the posts of district presidents, but has instructed the district presidents to give responsibility to women workers on at least 7 posts in their 21-member executive and try to make at least one district general secretary a woman. If the party succeeds in doing this, then the formula of 33 percent reservation for women in the district executive can be successful.
