Rajasthan BJP MLA Revantram Danga Served Fresh Notice Over Commission Allegations

BJP MLA Revantram Danga, accused of seeking a 40% commission for clearing development works under the MLA Local Area Development (MLALAD) fund, has been issued a fresh notice by the party’s Disciplinary Committee, intensifying pressure on the legislator. The move comes after the BJP state leadership expressed dissatisfaction with Danga’s earlier explanation to the allegations.

The notice was issued following a meeting of the BJP Disciplinary Committee, chaired by senior leader Onkar Singh Lakhawat, where the matter was discussed in detail. Former MP Ram Kumar Verma, MLAs Srichand Kriplani and Saroj Kumari attended the meeting in person, while former MP Narayan Pancharia joined virtually. The committee decided to summon Danga again and directed him to submit a detailed reply within the stipulated time.

BJP state president Madan Rathore confirmed that the party was not convinced by Danga’s initial response. “We sought an explanation from the MLA, but the reply was not satisfactory. As per party procedure, the matter has now been referred to the Disciplinary Committee, which will conduct a detailed inquiry and submit its report,” Rathore said. He added that the party follows a strict internal process in cases involving allegations of misconduct or indiscipline.

The controversy erupted about two weeks ago after a sting operation by Dainik Bhaskar allegedly caught Danga and two other Rajasthan MLAs on camera negotiating commission demands for sanctioning development works. The reporter, posing as the owner of a dummy firm, recorded conversations in which a 40% cut was allegedly sought from project allocations under the MLA fund. The footage triggered political uproar and raised serious questions about probity in the use of public funds.

Beyond party action, Danga also faces scrutiny at the legislative level. Rajasthan Assembly Speaker Vasudev Devnani has referred the matter to the Ethics Committee of the Assembly. Danga has already appeared once before the committee, which is examining whether his conduct violated legislative norms and ethical standards. The committee’s findings could have implications for his continuance as an MLA.

Party sources said the disciplinary panel will assess whether the allegations amount to serious misconduct warranting punitive action, which could range from a warning to suspension or expulsion, depending on the findings. The case is being closely watched within political circles, as it tests the BJP’s stated stance on internal discipline and corruption.

The final outcome will depend on the reports submitted by both the party’s Disciplinary Committee and the Assembly Ethics Committee, after which further action is expected.
