Rajkot Gears Up for Grand Hanuman Chalisa Yuva Katha: 50,000 Expected at Seven-Day Event

Thousands of devotees will gather at the Racecourse Ground as Rajkot hosts the second annual Hanuman Chalisa Yuva Katha, a seven-day spiritual programme running from today until January 2, 2026.

The discourse, led by Swami Hariprakashdasji of Salangpur Dham, begins tonight and will recreate the revered atmosphere of Salangpur temple. Organised by around 150 young hosts with community support, the event emphasises Indian cultural values among the youth.

Seating for 50,000 people has been arranged, with over 2,500 volunteers managing operations. The ground features a 52-foot temple replica housing a consecrated Salangpur Hanuman idol, a 120-foot LED screen, and a high-powered 6D sound system.

The highlight today is a grand Pothi Yatra starting at 2 pm from Virani High School Ground. The procession will include decorated elephants, horses, vintage cars, Nashik dhols, Aghori and cultural dances, Bahubali Hanuman tableaux, and Thar jeeps with bullet riders.

A special attraction: 551 women carrying Ramcharitmanas scriptures on their heads. The route passes through Yagnik Road, Imperial Hotel, District Panchayat Chowk and Kishanpara Chowk, accompanied by devotional chants of “Jai Shri Ram” and “Jai Hanuman”.

On December 31, coinciding with Hanuman Jayanti, celebrations include a 151 kg cake, 108 kg flower shower, floral decorations and a grand Annakut offering.

The concluding day on January 2 features another massive Annakut with home-cooked dishes contributed by women across the city, followed by prasad distribution.

Organisers have prepared 5 lakh prasad kits, drinking water facilities and ample parking. Daily sessions run from 7:30 pm to 11:30 pm.

The citizen-driven initiative reflects Rajkot's collective devotion, welcoming the New Year with spiritual fervour rather than festivities.
