RSS chief Mohan Bhagwat on Sunday called on Indians to become self-reliant and prioritize indigenous products, asserting that India will continue on the path of self-reliance regardless of external pressures or tariffs. Speaking at a Hindu conference in Chhatrapati Sambhajinagar, Bhagwat emphasized that while India participates in global trade, it is not under pressure from any country and should focus on domestic manufacturing wherever possible.
“Even if a country keeps imposing tariffs, India will walk on the path of self-reliance,” Bhagwat said. He urged citizens to buy goods made in India and use imports only when domestic production is not feasible. The RSS chief contrasted India’s approach to globalization with other nations, noting that some see global trade merely as a market, while India views it as a global family, where creating jobs in other countries is their responsibility.
Bhagwat also addressed the importance of cultural and spiritual resilience. He said India’s traditions have survived centuries of attacks, hardships, and foreign invasions, and those who upheld dharma came to be identified as Hindus, with their land called Bharat. He stressed that India’s global influence stems not only from military power but also from knowledge, ethics, understanding, and adherence to principles.
The RSS chief highlighted unity and discipline within Hindu society as essential for national strength. He encouraged citizens to oppose injustice peacefully, drawing inspiration from Lord Ram, who prioritized dialogue over force. Bhagwat called for discipline in daily life, including following laws, maintaining honesty, and upholding family values by spending time together, discussing traditions, singing bhajans, and reflecting on life values.
He also stressed the significance of spirituality, Sanatan Dharma, and intellectual and ethical development as key pillars of India’s enduring civilization. A strong Hindu society, he said, would contribute meaningfully to the nation’s global role. Bhagwat urged citizens to rise above divisions of caste, sect, language, and profession to promote equality and brotherhood.
Additionally, he encouraged people to travel abroad to gain exposure but also explore India’s historical and cultural heritage, including sites associated with figures like Maharana Pratap.
Bhagwat’s remarks come amid ongoing discussions on India’s self-reliance and economic sovereignty, reinforcing the RSS narrative that national strength is rooted in domestic capacity, ethical conduct, and cultural continuity.
