Sonia Gandhi Gets Court Relief in Voter ID Case

A court has granted major relief to Sonia Gandhi in a case alleging she obtained a voter ID before acquiring Indian citizenship.
Delhi's Rouse Avenue Court rejected the petition demanding FIR against Sonia Gandhi. This petition was filed by a person named Vikas Tripathi, in which FIR was demanded on the allegation of inclusion of her name in the voter list three years before she became an Indian citizen.
Name added in 1980, while she became a citizen in 1983
In the petition filed by Vikas Tripathi, it was alleged that Sonia Gandhi's name was included in the voter list of New Delhi constituency in 1980, while she became a citizen of India in April 1983.
Tripathi had raised serious questions
Tripathi had alleged that Gandhi's name was included in the voter list in 1980, removed in 1982 and then added again in 1983. Tripathi's lawyer said that her application for Indian citizenship is also of April 1983. How his name got included in the voter list of New Delhi constituency in 1980, which was then removed in 1982 and again included in 1983.
Allegation of submitting fake documents also alleged
The lawyer had said that his name getting included in the voter list in 1980 means that some fake documents were submitted and it is a case of a cognizable offence. Therefore, he requested the court to order the registration of an FIR.
