Tejashwi Yadav vows to scrap Waqf Bill, criticizes Prashant Kishor and BJP in Seemanchal

RJD leader and Leader of Opposition Tejashwi Yadav launched his Seemanchal campaign on Sunday, addressing rallies in Katihar, Araria, and Kishanganj. He sharply attacked Chief Minister Nitish Kumar and the BJP, accusing them of betrayal, divisive politics, and communal manipulation.

Nitish Kumar aided BJP’s rise in Bihar
At his Katihar rally, Tejashwi said, “If anyone gave BJP a place in Bihar, it is Nitish Kumar.” He added that during the RJD-led government, “no one had the courage to cause riots,” and alleged that the BJP fears Lalu Yadav the most.

Opposition to Waqf Bill
Tejashwi criticized the recently introduced Waqf Bill, claiming it targets Muslims. “The Waqf Bill brought by BJP is against the wishes of Muslims. When our government is formed, we will throw it into the dustbin,” he said.

Attacks on government policies
Tejashwi described the Nitish government as a “copycat government” that poorly replicates RJD welfare schemes:

  • Pension hike: “When we announced higher pensions, they raised it hastily to ₹1,100.”

  • Free electricity: “We offered full units; they gave only 15.”

  • Women’s loans: “Providing ₹10,000 loans isn’t real empowerment. Families need jobs, not handouts.”

He dubbed BJP the “Bharatiya Jumla Party,” accusing it of fostering communal divisions.

Jibe at Prashant Kishor
Without naming him, Tejashwi alleged that some individuals are trying to split votes in Pranpur by fielding candidates forcefully. The Jan Suraj Party’s Kunal Nishad (alias Sonu Singh) is contesting from the seat.

VIP chief Mukesh Sahni joins criticism
Mukesh Sahni, VIP chief, criticized Nitish Kumar’s leadership, claiming the government is run “remotely from Delhi,” and alleging corruption and communal politics under the BJP.

RJD candidate Ishrat Parveen in Pranpur
RJD has fielded 41-year-old Ishrat Parveen from Pranpur, an Intermediate-pass leader from the Surjapuri community with prior District Council experience. She will face BJP’s incumbent MLA Nisha Singh in a direct contest.

Seemanchal campaign focus
Tejashwi will continue rallies in Araria and Kishanganj, aiming to consolidate RJD’s traditional support among minorities and backward castes. Before leaving Patna, he asserted confidence in public support: “The people of Bihar gave BJP 20 years. We are asking for just 20 months. This time, there will be change.” He also promised to double panchayat allowances and introduce a pension scheme for former village representatives.

Tejashwi’s Seemanchal tour underscores RJD’s strategy of leveraging caste and emotional appeals while highlighting Nitish Kumar’s alleged betrayal and BJP’s communal politics.
