Despite joining hands, they failed to secure even a single seat in the BEST Society elections.
Thackeray Brothers News: Thackeray brothers have got a big setback before BMC elections. Despite fighting together in BEST Credit Society elections, Thackeray brothers (Uddhav Thackeray and Raj Thackeray) could not win a single seat. With this, the nine-year-old dominance of Shiv Sena led by Uddhav Thackeray is now over. In the results of Best Credit Society elections, Shashank Rao's panel won 14 seats, while Mahayuti panel won seven seats.
The Thackeray brothers, who came together in Maharashtra politics, have already suffered a setback in the election. The 'Utkarsh' panel supported by Uddhav Thackeray's Shiv Sena (UBT) and Raj Thackeray's Maharashtra Navnirman Sena (MNS) has faced defeat in the Best Credit Society elections. The panel supported by Thackeray brothers has not won a single seat out of 21.
The unity did not work
The Uddhav Thackeray-led Shiv Sena (UBT) and the MNS party formed by Raj Thackeray after breaking away from the Shiv Sena in 2006 have historically been rivals. However, recent political changes have led to talks of a possible alliance to take on the ruling Mahayuti coalition in the Mumbai municipal elections.
The BEST election was seen as a litmus test for their joint strategy, which was aimed at capitalising on their base votebank among Marathi-speaking communities and BEST employees. However, the BEST suffered a crushing defeat here.
