Tharoor's Bold Statement: 'Loyal to Congress for 16 Years' Amid Party Rift

Shashi Tharoor has made a significant statement, emphasizing his 16 years of loyalty to the Congress party amid growing differences. His remarks highlight ongoing tensions and raise questions about the party's internal dynamics.

Congress MP Shashi Tharoor on Thursday (June 19, 2025) broke his silence on differences with the party leadership, saying that he has a different opinion with the top leadership. However, he also said that the Congress party, its values and workers are dear to him.

He said that as you know, I have differences with the current Congress leadership. Some of them are in the public domain. So you all know about it. It would be better to talk to them directly and resolve them within the party.

The Congress MP also said that he did not campaign for the Congress candidate for the Nilambur by-election because the party did not call him for this.

'Loyal to Congress for 16 years'

The Congress leader said, "I have been loyal to Congress for 16 years and even if there are any differences, they can be resolved. If there are any differences, then it should be discussed behind closed doors with the concerned people and I want to leave it here."
