Haryana para-athlete Sharmila Dhankar etched her name into the record books by winning the women's Shot Put F57 gold medal at the Commonwealth Games 2026, becoming India's first-ever para athletics gold medallist at the Games. The 40-year-old produced a season-best throw of 9.81 metres in Glasgow, delivering India's second gold medal of the campaign and ending a two-decade wait for a Commonwealth Games para athletics medal.
