In a moment of immense pride for Indian cricket, the India Blind Women’s Cricket Team has created history by clinching the first-ever Blind Women’s T20 World Cup 2025, defeating Nepal by 7 wickets in the thrilling final held at P. Saravanamuttu International Cricket Stadium, Colombo.
This victory marks India’s first-ever global title in women’s blind cricket and completes an unforgettable double for Indian women’s cricket in November 2025 – following the senior women’s team’s triumphant T20 World Cup win against South Africa earlier this month.
Dominant Campaign: Undefeated Throughout the Tournament
Team India, led by captain Deepika TC from Karnataka, remained unbeaten throughout the inaugural Blind Women’s T20 World Cup. They showcased supreme dominance by:
- Crushing Australia by 9 wickets in the semi-final
- Defeating arch-rivals Pakistan in the league stage
- Chasing down every target with remarkable ease
In the final, India restricted Nepal to a modest 114/5 in 20 overs, allowing just one boundary in the entire innings – a testament to their disciplined bowling attack. The target was chased down in just 12 overs for the loss of only 3 wickets.

What Makes Blind Cricket Unique?
Played with a white plastic ball containing ball bearings that rattle on bounce, blind cricket features three categories:
- B1 – Totally blind (must have runners; runs scored count double)
- B2 & B3 – Partially sighted
Teams must field a mix of all categories, and bowling is underarm.
A Historic Month for Indian Women’s Cricket
November 2025 will be etched in golden letters:
- November 2: Harmanpreet Kaur’s team wins the Women’s T20 World Cup (able-bodied)
- November 23: Deepika TC’s team wins the inaugural Blind Women’s T20 World Cup
Two World Cups. Two Indian women’s teams. One unforgettable month.
Congratulations to the India Blind Women’s Cricket Team – true champions who proved that vision is no barrier to victory!
