Shujalpur Suicide Case: Dismissed Employee Anil Dohre Dies by Suicide, Blames 21 People in 7-Page Note for Debt Harassment and Corruption
Digital Desk
In a heartbreaking incident that has shocked the quiet town of Shujalpur, a 55-year-old dismissed government employee, Anil Dohre, was found dead by suicide near Jatashankar Dam on Monday morning.
The tragic death, reportedly driven by overwhelming debt, relentless harassment, and systemic corruption, has come to light through a chilling 7-page suicide note left behind in his car alongside an empty container of poison. The note accuses 21 individuals, including moneylenders, corrupt officials, and even a female judge, of pushing him and his wife to the brink.
Anil Dohre, a former Lower Division Clerk (LDC) in the local court, had been missing since November 7. His body was discovered after a three-day frantic search by police, triggered by a complaint from his wife, Archana Dohre. Archana, who serves as the warden of Ajak Hostel in Shujalpur, received the suicide note via WhatsApp from her husband before his death. The note, a copy of which is in possession of Dainik Bhaskar, details a web of exploitation, fraudulent loans, workplace harassment, and bribery that allegedly ruined their family.
Debt Trap and Moneylender Harassment: The First Blow
The suicide note opens with a desperate cry against a group of ruthless moneylenders who ensnared Archana Dohre in a vicious cycle of high-interest loans. Charging 10-20% monthly interest, these lenders allegedly collected payments through blank cheques, leaving the family in perpetual debt. "Moneylenders have trapped my wife and taken money at a monthly interest rate of 10 to 20 percent. They collected money by taking blank cheques. She can never escape their clutches now. She might also have to commit suicide," Anil wrote poignantly.
The accused moneylenders named on the first page include:
- Manohar Jatav
- Kamli Jatav
- Bharat Srivastava and his wife
- Gendalal Jat
- Kalpana Jat
- Raja Sardar
- Bobby alias Gopal Narang Sardar
- Radheshyam Gupta
- Sharda Gupta
- Qureshi Madam, former Superintendent of Tribal Welfare Department
- Ghanshyam Maheshwari
- Manohar Yadav, a teacher
Anil further implicated Wajid Khan Pathan, a local teacher and son of Hidayat Gul Pathan, for blackmailing and exploiting his wife. He urged authorities to check mobile phones, bank records, and PhonePe transactions for evidence, claiming Pathan "ruined my home."
This section of the note highlights the growing menace of informal moneylending in rural Madhya Pradesh, where vulnerable families fall prey to predatory practices, often leading to financial ruin and mental health crises.
Fraudulent Loans and Document Tampering: A Betrayal of Trust
On the second page, Anil exposed a fraudulent loan scheme orchestrated by teacher Lakhan Malviya and his associates, Hemlata Pushpad and Leelabai Pushpad. The trio allegedly used Archana's documents—pay slip, SBI statement, cheque, PAN card, and Aadhaar—to secure a loan without her knowledge. "They told her that her loan was being processed. 'Go to Bhopal and sign,' they said," Anil recounted. The funds never reached Archana's account; instead, the perpetrators withdrew and spent the money.
Worse, they tampered with fingerprints and SIM cards linked to Archana's name, even filing false reports against her. Hemlata, who works as a cook at a female judge's home, reportedly leveraged this connection to pressure police into registering the bogus FIR. "Lakhan Malviya is addicted to luxury. He traps people under the pretext of getting them loans," Anil alleged, holding all three responsible for his despair.
Over the past three years, Archana has faced 11 legal cases related to fraud, cheque bounce, and conspiracy, many filed by the named moneylenders like Bharat Srivastava, Raja alias Deependra Chhabra, Sharda Gupta, and Radheshyam Gupta.
Workplace Harassment and Corruption in Government Hostels
Anil's note delves deep into the toxic environment at Shujalpur's government hostels, where his wife's role as superintendent became a nightmare. Meena Ghore, the Superintendent of Junior Girls Hostel and overseer of three facilities including Senior Hostel No. 2 and Post Matric Hostel, is accused of harassment stemming from her controversial past. Transferred to Shujalpur after her husband Ganesh Rao's conviction for raping a hostel girl in Rajgarh, Ghore allegedly amassed crores through corruption—owning a Rs 1 crore house, Rs 18 lakh car, and land.
Archana's appointment as superintendent on October 1, 2019, was delayed by Ghore until December 6, after which the harassment intensified. "Fed up with her harassment, I am committing suicide," Anil wrote. Savitri Singh, another superintendent who took permanent charge of Senior Hostel No. 1 on September 30, 2025, is blamed for verbal abuse, calling Archana "immoral and a terrorist." Singh allegedly cut off electricity to their government quarter and changed the main gate lock on November 3, 2025, leaving the family without power or water.
District Officer (DO) Meena Mandloi faces the gravest corruption charges. Appointed in Shajapur, she is accused of siphoning lakhs during a Rs 70 lakh procurement under former Collector Kanyal. With 40 hostels in the district, Mandloi allegedly demands Rs 20,000 annually from each superintendent and 10% of monthly operational funds. Collections were routed through Superintendent Dharamsingh Malviya, who on November 3, 2025, demanded Rs 2 lakh from Anil to reinstate Archana. "If you don’t give the money, DO Madam will not give your wife the hostel," Dharamsingh reportedly said.
Archana was removed from her post on September 19, 2025, despite a High Court stay order submitted to the district and collector's offices. Even after reapplying for electricity on November 5, it was briefly restored before being disconnected again at the behest of Meena Singh and Savitri Singh.
A Father's Final Plea: Dreams for Daughter's MBBS Amid Family Ruin
The seventh page of the note shifts to a tender message for Anil's family. Addressing his elder son Chiku, he wrote: "Take care of Aditi (Gudiya) and Mummy Archana. Get Gudiya’s MBBS completed somehow. Forgive me. Our journey together ends here. Jai Shri Ram to all friends." This heartbreaking appeal underscores the personal toll of institutional failures on ordinary families.
Anil's own backstory adds layers to the tragedy. Dismissed 20 years ago from Shujalpur court after a misbehavior complaint following an argument with a judge over flag hoisting, he pivoted to a travel business, renting out his car. His death near Jatashankar Dam, where police and an Indore FSL team later collected evidence, symbolizes the dam-breaking weight of unresolved grievances.
Police Probe Underway: Calls for Justice in Shujalpur Suicide Case
Shujalpur police have registered cases based on Archana's complaint and are investigating the allegations of debt harassment, corruption, and abetment to suicide. The note's 24 names, including the 21 primary accused, point to a nexus involving educators, officials, and lenders. As the community reels, this Shujalpur suicide case has sparked demands for a thorough probe into government hostel corruption and moneylending rackets in Madhya Pradesh.
