IPS officer Shweta Chaubey, originally from Chhattisgarh, has been awarded the Chief Minister's Commendable Service Medal in Uttarakhand. She has earned recognition as the “Lioness of Uttarakhand” for her remarkable service.

On the occasion of 79th Independence Day, Uttarakhand government honoured officers and employees working in various fields in the state for their distinguished service. This year's ceremony became special for Chhattisgarh when Chhattisgarh's daughter IPS Shweta Chaubey was honoured with the Chief Minister's Commendable Service Medal. A special team was formed for relief and rescue work in the areas devastated by cloudburst in the state, in which Chhattisgarh native IPS Shweta Chaubey's name was also there.
Late IPS Vijay Shankar Chaubey, who was Superintendent of Police in Durg district of Chhattisgarh and twice honoured with the President's Award, who later took over as DGP of Chhattisgarh, is his daughter IPS Shweta Chaube. Late DGP Vijay Shankar Chaubey was a native of Sarangarh in Chhattisgarh, he served in Chhattisgarh Police all his life, due to which Shweta's childhood was also spent in Durg and some other districts of Chhattisgarh.
After spending her childhood in Chhattisgarh, Shweta passed the UKPSC exam and started serving as DSP. With the passage of time, Shweta became known more by her work than her name. After departmental promotion, she was awarded IPS, after which she created many big records on the basis of her work and came to be known as "Uttarakhand Ki Sherni". She was also praised by the government for her special work.
Last year, it was announced that IPS Shweta Choubey would be awarded the President's Award for her commendable services, after which she was awarded this honor on 26 January 2025. This year, she was awarded the Scotch Award for "Operation Pink" run for women's safety in Uttarakhand and today on Independence Day, the Uttarakhand government has honored her with the Chief Minister's Commendable Service Medal.
IPS Shweta Choubey is constantly inscribing her and Chhattisgarh's name in golden letters on the national stage with her services. Due to her dedication, the “daughter of Chhattisgarh” is now being recognized as the “lioness of Uttarakhand”
