Kishtwar Encounter Update: Jaish Terrorists Trapped in J&K Operation, 3 Killed Earlier

Kishtwar encounter intensifies as security forces hunt Jaish terrorists in J&K forests. Operation ongoing after 3 killed on Feb 4; Chatru belt sees surge in anti-terror ops. Stay updated

Fresh firing echoes through Jammu and Kashmir's Kishtwar forests as a Kishtwar encounter rages on, trapping Jaish-e-Mohammed terrorists. This Sunday morning clash underscores the relentless Jammu Kashmir security forces campaign against cross-border threats, especially timely amid rising terror bids in the region.

Latest Developments in Kishtwar Encounter

Security forces launched a search in Kishtwar after tips on a Jaish-e-Mohammed hideout. Terrorists opened fire, sparking the Kishtwar encounter. One militant is confirmed dead, with 2-3 still cornered. The White Knight Corps posted on social media: joint teams from CIF Delta, J&K Police, and CRPF have sealed the area.

This builds on Feb 4 successes in the Chatru belt, where Operation Trashi-1 claimed three Jaish-e-Mohammed lives. In Udhampur, two Pakistani terrorists hid in a cave after initial gunfire. Forces used Under Barrel Grenade Launchers (UBGLs), blasting the hideout in a 20-hour op. "Both were neutralized," officials said.

Tragically, Havildar Gajendra Singh, injured in Kishtwar on Sunday, died Monday. Earlier, SOG jawan Amjad Pathan fell on Dec 15.

Operation Trashi-1: A Month of Intense Action

Launched Jan 18, Operation Trashi-1 targets dense forests in Kishtwar-Udhampur. Key highlights:

  • Jan 18: Grenade attack injures 8 soldiers; Havildar Singh later killed.

  • Jan 22, 24, 31: Multiple skirmishes.

  • Feb 4: Chatru terrorist gunned down.

  • Jan 23: Jaish commander Usman eliminated in Kathua with M4 rifle recovered.

Jaish-e-Mohammed remains active, prompting Jammu Kashmir security forces to deploy extra troops.

Why This Matters Now

With Jammu seeing a terror surge last year, these ops signal zero tolerance. Experts like retired Col. Ajay Ahlawat note: "Forest hideouts are Jaish's last bastions—Operation Trashi-1 is dismantling them." Actionable takeaway: Locals report suspicious activity via 112; it saves lives.

Operations continue, with forces vowing no escape for trapped militants. Jammu and Kashmir stays on high alert as Kishtwar encounter unfolds—peace hangs in the balance.
