Childhood that turned into responsibilities
Nandini lives in a thatched house on government land near the airport boundary in Ward No. 31 of the city. The financial difficulties of her father forced her to shoulder the burden of responsibilities at an early age. Where other children relax after school or get busy playing sports, Nandini takes to the streets with an e-rickshaw.
Afternoon class, evening earnings
School in the morning and driving an e-rickshaw in the evening is her daily routine. She drives the e-rickshaw for three to four hours every day. Her hard work can be gauged from the fact that she is not lagging behind in her studies either. Nandini says, "I have less time, but my dreams are big." Nandini told that her father is under debt, there are four sisters and a brother in my family. I don't even have a house. I live on government land. Driving an e-rickshaw is necessary to share the household expenses and complete my studies. She told that she wants to become an officer after completing her studies. Nandini studies in class 11 in the city's Girls High School.
Smile amidst difficulties
Driving an e-rickshaw is not just a job for her, but a means of helping the family. However, this work is not easy. Many times she has to face taunts and sometimes even the rudeness of passengers. But she overcomes every difficulty with a smile. Nandini's father told that he is often ill and due to compulsion, his daughter drives an e-rickshaw for some time.
