Shami Questions Exclusion: “Fit for Duleep Trophy, Why Not Asia Cup?”

Mohammed Shami: Experienced Indian team fast bowler Mohammed Shami has given a big statement on not getting a place in the Asia Cup 2025 team. India has selected five bowlers for this tournament, out of which three fast bowlers will be led by Jasprit Bumrah, but Shami was kept out of both the squad and the reserve. After Shami was dropped from the Asia Cup squad, it was believed that he was out due to fitness.

But now Shami has made it clear that he is fully fit and ready to play Duleep Trophy. During this, he also criticized the BCCI selector.

Actually, Indian bowler Mohammed Shami broke his silence on not getting a place in the Asia Cup 2025 team. Team India has selected five specialist bowlers this time, including three fast bowlers led by Jasprit Bumrah. But Shami was neither selected in the main squad nor got a place in the reserve players.

Let us tell you that Shami made a comeback in the format after almost three years in the home T20 series against England this year. Although he did not get any success in the comeback match in Rajkot, he took three wickets in the match played in Mumbai.

Shami's performance for Sunrisers Hyderabad in IPL 2025 was poor. He took only 6 wickets in 9 matches and his economy rate was 11.23. In between, he also had to sit out in some matches. After this, he was ignored from the Test series against England and then from the Asia Cup team.

Many people believed that this decision was taken due to fitness, but Shami made it clear that he is fully ready to play Duleep Trophy. He said,

When asked if he was available to play Asia Cup, Shami replied, "If I can play Duleep Trophy, why can't I play T20?"

Shami will now hope to return to Team India by performing well in Duleep Trophy. The home test series against West Indies can be important for him. He also told that he has passed the Bronco fitness test held in Bangalore before the tournament.
