DPL 2025: Samson’s Partner Smashes 134 Runs

In DPL 2025, 15 sixes and 8 fours set the stage as Sanju Samson’s partner scored 134 runs; Digvesh Rathi paid a heavy price for taking ‘Panga’.

Left-handed star batsman Nitish Rana, who is out of Team India, has created havoc with the bat. In the eliminator match of Delhi Premier League (DPL 2025), Rana came at number four and played a blistering innings and scored an unbeaten 134 runs in just 55 balls. Thanks to his fiery innings, West Delhi Lions defeated South Delhi Superstars by 7 wickets and made it to Quarterfinal-2. In this match, Nitish thrashed Delhi Superstars spinner Digvesh Rathi fiercely. There was a heated argument between the two during the match, after which Nitish adopted a stormy stance against him and scored 38 runs in 11 balls, as a result of which he did not get to bowl again after conceding 39 runs in 2 overs.

After winning the toss and deciding to bowl, West Delhi got a big target of 202 runs. Anmol Sharma (55), Tejaswi Dahiya (60) and Sumit Mathur (48) made excellent contributions from South Delhi. West Delhi's start to chase this big target was shaky, as star opener Krish Yadav (31) was out and the other two batsmen could not even touch the double digit mark. The team was in trouble, then Nitish Rana took charge and returned with a win.

Hit 8 fours and 15 long sixes

Nitish Rana hit a flurry of fours and sixes as soon as he came to the crease. He especially wreaked havoc on the opposition team's star spinner Digvesh Rathi. Rana looted 38 runs from just 11 balls and completely spoiled the bowler's rhythm.

Rana's innings included 8 fours and 15 long sixes. His strike rate was above 243 and he did not give the opposing team any chance to come back in the match.

Digvesh Rathi had to pay heavily for messing up
During this match, Nitish Rana and Digvesh Rathi clashed. The matter escalated so much that the umpire and the players had to intervene. West Delhi Lions were chasing a target of 202 runs. After two wickets fell early, when batsman Nitish Rana came to the crease, Digvesh stopped before bowling a ball and then Rana also stopped Rathi from bowling the next ball. This is where the argument started. Meanwhile, the umpire and other players came and separated them and the matter was settled, then Nitish took out his anger with the bat and scored 38 runs in 11 balls against Rathi.

He won by becoming a one man army
Rana's bat was very good in the eliminator match. He was seen in one man army style. He returned after playing an unbeaten innings of 134 runs. Now West Delhi Lions, captained by Nitish Rana, will take on East Delhi Riders in Qualifier-2 on July 30. If she wins, she will play the final against Central Delhi Kings on 31 August. It remains to be seen how Rana bats in the next match.

How is Rana's performance in DPL 2025?

This season, Rana has so far scored 269 runs in 9 matches at an average of 44.83. His strike rate has been 190.78 and he has hit 19 fours and 25 sixes. He is currently at number 11 in the list of run scorers. Rana's performance in IPL 2025 was not very special. Playing for Rajasthan Royals captained by Sanju Samson, he scored 217 runs in 11 matches, including an innings of 87 runs, but in the Delhi Premier League, this player has dominated with his captaincy and by scoring a century in the knockout match, he has kept the hopes of playing the final alive.
