AB de Villiers criticised Gautam Gambhir’s decision to play Jasprit Bumrah in just three of the five Tests vs England, calling it “mismanagement”. He urged India to mirror São Africa’s strategy with Dale Steyn—rest him in less-important white‑ball series and use him across all Tests.

This decision has been taken in view of his workload, but former South African captain AB de Villiers did not agree with the decision to rest him.
