Asia Cup 2025, AFG vs HK: Afghanistan have made a great start to their campaign in the Asia Cup 2025. In the first match on Tuesday, Afghanistan defeated Hong Kong by 94 runs to register their biggest ever win in the T20 Asia Cup.
After winning the toss at Sheikh Zayed Stadium, Afghanistan decided to bat first. The team scored 188 runs for 6 wickets in 20 overs. Sediqullah Atal scored 73 runs in 52 balls, while Azmatullah Umarzai scored a fifty in just 21 balls. Mohammad Nabi also contributed 33 runs. Babar Hayat scored the highest 39 runs for Hong Kong.
Afghanistan captain Rashid Khan won the toss and decided to bat first, but the start was a bit bad. Opening pair Rahmanullah Gurbaz and Sediqullah Atal got out early, but later Sediqullah Atal and Mohammad Nabi took charge of the team. After this, Azmatullah Umarzai scored an aggressive fifty and took Afghanistan to a respectable score.
Hong Kong's innings was also a struggle. They scored only 94 runs for 9 wickets in 20 overs. Babar Hayat scored 39 runs, but the team could not make any big partnership. In Afghanistan's bowling, Fazalhaq Farooqi and Gulbadin Naib took 2-2 wickets.
