India captain Harmanpreet Kaur became the most successful skipper in women's T20I history on Friday, surpassing Australia's Meg Lanning with her 77th win after an eight-wicket thrashing of Sri Lanka in the third match at Greenfield International Stadium.
The victory gave India an unassailable 3-0 lead in the five-match series. All-rounder Deepti Sharma also entered the record books, becoming the first cricketer—male or female—to score 1,000 runs and take 150 wickets in T20Is.
Opting to bowl, India restricted Sri Lanka to 112 for 7. Pacer Renuka Singh Thakur marked her return with 4 for 21, while Deepti claimed 3 for 18, equalling Megan Schutt's 151 wickets as the joint-leading taker in women's T20Is. Her dismissal of Kavisha Dilhari brought up the landmark 150th scalp.
Chasing 113, opener Shafali Verma blasted an unbeaten 79 off 42 balls—laced with 11 fours and three sixes—as India romped home in 13.2 overs. Harmanpreet remained not out on 21.
Harmanpreet now has 77 wins from 130 matches, overtaking Lanning's 76 in 100. Her leadership follows India's maiden ODI World Cup triumph earlier this year.

Deepti's dual milestone—over 1,100 runs alongside 151 wickets—highlights her versatility. She also became the third-highest wicket-taker in women's international cricket with 333 scalps.
The dominant display underscores India's depth ahead of next year's T20 World Cup in the UK. The remaining matches offer chances to test bench strength.
