Hyderabad Cricket Association Chief and 5 Others Arrested for Blackmailing Kavya Maran

In a shocking development, the Hyderabad Cricket Association chief along with five others has been arrested for allegedly blackmailing Kavya Maran, the owner of IPL team Sunrisers Hyderabad. The case is under investigation and more details are awaited.

The Telangana Crime Investigation Department (CID) has arrested Hyderabad Cricket Association (HCA) President A. Jagan Mohan Rao and 5 top officials on charges of blackmailing IPL Sunrisers Hyderabad team owner Kavya Maran. Apart from the HCA president, the police have detained treasurer C. Srinivas Rao, CEO Sunil Kante, general secretary Rajendra Yadav and his wife G. Kavitha. The action was initiated after a complaint by SRH owner Kavya Maran, in which she accused the HCA of constant blackmailing and misbehavior during the 2025 IPL season.

In fact, the controversy started when Sunrisers Hyderabad wrote a letter to the BCCI and the IPL Governing Council making serious allegations against the HCA. The franchise claimed that HCA officials were constantly threatening them, especially demanding free tickets (complimentary passes). As per the allegations, the HCA officials were threatening SRH that if they don't get free tickets, they might disrupt the game at the stadium.
