India-A Crushes Australia-A by 171 Runs in First ODI: Shreyas Iyer's Blazing Century Steals the Show

In a dominant display of batting prowess, India-A thrashed Australia-A by 171 runs in the opening unofficial One-Day International at Kanpur's Green Park Stadium on October 1. Led by captain Shreyas Iyer's explosive 75-ball century, the hosts posted a mammoth 413/6 in 50 overs, setting the tone for a lopsided victory in the three-match series.

Australia-A skipper Will Sutherland won the toss and elected to bowl, but India-A's openers dismantled the decision early. Priyansh Arya and Prabhsimran Singh forged a fiery 135-run partnership. Prabhsimran fell for 56 off Tom Straker, but Arya accelerated brilliantly, smashing 101 off 84 balls with 11 fours and 5 sixes. Starting cautiously, he reached his fifty in 60 balls before unleashing a flurry to complete his ton in just 22 more deliveries.

Shreyas Iyer, batting at No. 3, then took charge with a scintillating 110 off 83 balls, including 12 fours and 4 sixes. Partnering with Riyan Parag (67 off 42, with 5 fours and 5 sixes), he added 132 runs for the third wicket. Parag was dismissed by Todd Murphy, while Iyer fell to Liam Scott after his century. In the death overs, Ayush Badoni's unbeaten 50 off 27 balls (4 fours, 3 sixes) propelled India-A past 400. Sutherland claimed 2 wickets for Australia-A.

Chasing 414, Australia-A crumbled to 242 in 33.1 overs. Opener Mackenzie Harvey top-scored with 68 off 62, and Sutherland added a fighting 50 off 33 (7 fours, 2 sixes). Lachlan Shaw chipped in with 45, but India's bowlers dominated. Spinner Nishant Sindhu starred with 4 wickets, while Ravi Bishnoi took 2. Gurjapneet Singh, Simranjeet Singh, and Badoni shared the rest.

This win gives India-A a 1-0 lead. The second ODI is slated for October 3 in Kanpur, following a rain-delayed start to the series. Cricket fans are buzzing over Iyer's return to form, eyeing his potential recall to the senior team. Stay tuned for more updates on India-A vs Australia-A series highlights.
