In a dominant Super Fours display, India defeated Bangladesh by 41 runs to become the first team to qualify for the Asia Cup 2025 final. The match, played in Dubai, was set up by a blistering half-century from opener Abhishek Sharma and sealed by a clinical bowling performance, led by Kuldeep Yadav.
Explosive Batting Powers India
After being asked to bat first, India got off to a flying start thanks to a spectacular innings from Abhishek Sharma. The left-hander smashed 75 runs off just 37 balls, including 6 fours and 5 sixes, propelling India to 96/2 at the halfway mark. His partnership with Shubman Gill (29) provided the perfect launchpad.
However, Bangladesh fought back brilliantly after Sharma's run-out. The Indian middle order, including skipper Suryakumar Yadav, stuttered, and it was left to Hardik Pandya (38 off 29 balls) to provide the late impetus and guide India to a competitive total of 168/6. For Bangladesh, leg-spinner Rishad Hossain was the pick of the bowlers with 2/27.
Bowlers Seal Comprehensive Win
In reply, Bangladesh's chase never gained momentum despite a fighting 69 from Saif Hassan, who was dropped four times by the Indian fielders. The Indian bowling attack was relentless, with Kuldeep Yadav being the standout performer. The wrist-spinner delivered a magical spell, taking 3 wickets for just 18 runs in his 4 overs, dismantling the Bangladeshi batting lineup.
Jasprit Bumrah provided an early breakthrough, and the other bowlers maintained consistent pressure, eventually bowling out Bangladesh for 127 in the 20th over.
Road to the Final
With this victory, India secures its spot in the Asia Cup final. The focus now shifts to the second Super Fours match between Bangladesh and Pakistan, which has become a virtual semi-final. The winner of that contest will face India for the championship.
