Senior Indian batsman KL Rahul has not given up hopes of returning to the T20 team. Rahul said that he wants to play in the T20 World Cup to be held in India. Rahul has not played a T20 International match for three years. The right-handed batsman performed brilliantly for Delhi Capitals in IPL 2025 and scored 539 runs in 13 matches.

Senior Indian batsman KL Rahul wants to return to the T20 team through the World Cup to be held in India next year and said that staying away from this format gave him a chance to improve his game in the white ball format.

Rahul has not played T20 cricket for India for the last three years. He last played in the 2022 T20 World Cup in Australia when the Indian team lost in the semi-finals against England.

Focus on T20 World Cup

Rahul told Sky Sports that I want to return to the T20 team and the World Cup is on my mind. But at the moment I just want to enjoy my game. Defending T20 champions India will host the World Cup in 2026 along with Sri Lanka.

In IPL, Rahul's Delhi Capitals team could not qualify for the playoffs, but he scored 539 runs in 13 matches at a strike rate of 149.72. Rahul has scored more than 500 runs for the fifth time in six seasons.

He said that I got a chance to work on my game in the white ball format. I am happy with my performance, but 12 or 15 months ago I realized that the game is changing and becoming faster.
In this, the team that is hitting more fours and sixes is winning. Rahul said that I have not been a part of the T20 team for the last few years. This gave me a chance to think about my game in this format.
