Jacques Kallis Reveals His Top Picks for SA20 Season 4; Big Expectations from Pretorius, Brevis & Stubbs

Former South African all-rounder Jacques Kallis has shared his top player picks ahead of the much-awaited SA20 Season 4, scheduled to begin on 26 December 2025. Speaking to the media, Kallis expressed high hopes from young talents Luan-dre Pretorius, Dewald Brevis, and Tristan Stubbs, calling them key names to watch in the upcoming tournament.

During a conversation with Dainik Bhaskar, Kallis highlighted how the SA20 league has become a major platform for emerging cricketers. He said, “The league brings new talent to the forefront every year. It will be interesting to see who emerges this time.”

Praising 19-year-old Pretorius, Kallis added that the youngster impressed everyone last season and looks ready for a big second year. “Pretorius performed brilliantly last season. He is prepared to handle the pressure and challenge of this season,” he said.

Kallis also spoke about Dewald Brevis, widely known as “Baby AB” for his explosive stroke play. “Brevis needs a big tournament to push his career forward. SA20 gives him a perfect stage,” he remarked.

On Tristan Stubbs, the former all-rounder shared strong confidence. “Stubbs is a talented player. A strong performance this season can make him a crucial part of South Africa’s future cricket plans.”

SA20 Season 4 Begins 26 December

The fourth edition of South Africa’s biggest franchise T20 league will start on 26 December, with the opening match between defending champions MI Cape Town and Durban Super Giants at the iconic Newlands Stadium, Cape Town.

The final will also take place in Cape Town on 25 January 2026, marking a month-long cricketing fiesta filled with competitive action.

Playoff Format Across Four Venues

The playoffs will follow a multi-stage format spread across four major South African cities:

Qualifier 1 (Durban): Top two teams face off; winner enters the final.

Eliminator (Centurion): Teams placed third and fourth battle for survival.

Qualifier 2 (Johannesburg): Winner of Eliminator meets the loser of Qualifier 1 for the second final spot.

This structure keeps the competition intense and ensures high-stakes cricket until the last match.
