Mohammed Siraj Furious at Air India Express After 4-Hour Flight Delay in Guwahati, Calls It 'Worst Experience Ever'
Digital Desk
Team India pacer Mohammed Siraj expressed strong disappointment and anger after his Air India Express flight from Guwahati to Hyderabad was delayed by over four hours on Wednesday night, leaving him and several passengers stranded at the airport without proper communication.
The incident occurred right after the conclusion of the second Test match between India and South Africa at Guwahati’s Barsapara Stadium, where India suffered a crushing 408-run defeat, resulting in a 0-2 series whitewash – their second consecutive home series clean sweep after New Zealand’s 3-0 win last year.
Siraj, who was scheduled to board Air India Express flight IX-1089 at 7:25 PM, took to social media to vent his frustration. “Flight delayed by 4+ hours and still no proper update from the airline. Passengers are stranded with zero information. Worst experience ever! If this is the kind of service @AirIndiaX continues to provide, I won’t recommend it to anyone,” the Indian fast bowler posted.
The post quickly went viral, drawing widespread attention and criticism toward the airline.
Air India Express Responds
Following the backlash, Air India Express issued a clarification stating that the flight was eventually cancelled due to “operational reasons” and apologized for the inconvenience caused to passengers, including Mohammed Siraj.
Siraj’s Performance in the Series
Despite the off-field frustration, Siraj was one of the few Indian bowlers who showed fight in an otherwise disappointing series against South Africa. The 30-year-old pacer picked up 6 wickets across the two Tests:
- 4 wickets in the first Test at Kolkata
- 2 wickets in the first innings of the Guwahati Test
However, he went wicketless in the second innings as South Africa piled up a mammoth total and enforced the follow-on.
