Nicholas Pooran Retirement: Known for his explosive batting on the field, the dashing Caribbean player Nicholas Pooran has given a big shock to cricket fans today. At the age of 29, he has said goodbye to international cricket. Nicholas has announced his retirement by sharing an emotional post on his official Instagram account.

Nicholas Pooran, who retired from international cricket, has not played a single Test match in his career. The biggest reason behind this decision is believed to be his earnings. The earnings from international level matches are very less compared to the huge amount in franchise cricket. Pooran's decision to retire shows that players are being attracted to better opportunities financially.

Due to playing in franchise cricket, these players were not part of the central contract of the West Indies Cricket Board. In such a situation, the board used to pay them only match fees. According to media reports, he used to get around ₹1,96,946 (US$2300) for an ODI match and ₹1,48,566 (US$1735) for a T20 international match from the West Indies Board. At the same time, in IPL 2025, Lucknow Super Giants retained him for Rs 21 crore for one season, which is more than what he earned after playing many years in international cricket.
