Paris Saint-Germain made a statement at the start of their UEFA Champions League title defence, sweeping aside Slovan Bratislava 6-1 at the Parc des Princes on Wednesday night.
Ferran Torres stole the spotlight with a hat-trick on his Champions League debut for PSG, while Ousmane Dembélé scored twice and provided two assists. Fabián Ruiz added the sixth goal late in the game. Suleiman Camara scored Slovan’s only goal.
The victory gives the reigning European champions an emphatic start to their 2026-27 league-phase campaign.
Dembélé Sets the Tone
PSG needed only 17 minutes to break the deadlock. Nuno Mendes struck the post before Dembélé reacted quickly to fire the rebound into the net.
The France international doubled the advantage six minutes later. A deflected effort from Dro Fernández fell kindly for Dembélé, who headed the ball beyond goalkeeper Dominik Takac.
Dembélé then turned creator in the 31st minute, delivering a dangerous cross that Torres converted to put PSG 3-0 ahead.
Torres Completes His Hat-Trick
Torres continued the rout immediately after half-time.
In the 47th minute, the Spanish forward cut inside from the edge of the box and curled a precise finish into the net. Ten minutes later, he completed his hat-trick from a corner delivered by Dembélé.
The treble was Torres' first in the Champions League and came during his first European appearance for PSG. UEFA subsequently named him player of the match.
Slovan Find a Moment of Brilliance
Slovan Bratislava finally found a response in the 59th minute.
Suleiman Camara produced an excellent individual move, cutting inside before sending a powerful shot into the far top corner to make it 5-1.
The goal briefly gave the Slovakian champions something to celebrate, but PSG remained firmly in control.
Ruiz Adds the Finishing Touch
PSG restored their five-goal advantage in the 88th minute.
Fabián Ruiz reacted quickest after Slovan failed to clear a corner and poked the ball into the net to complete a 6-1 victory.
PSG finished with 73% possession, underlining the control they exerted throughout the match.
PSG Respond After Difficult Domestic Start
The result was particularly significant because PSG had endured a shaky opening to their domestic campaign, with two draws and a defeat in Ligue 1.
Against Slovan, however, Luis Enrique's side looked far more convincing, combining aggressive attacking play with sustained pressure.
The French champions are aiming for an unprecedented third consecutive Champions League title. Their next league-phase challenges include Manchester City away and Barcelona at home, providing considerably tougher tests than their opening-night opponents.
For now, Torres' three-goal debut and Dembélé's two-goal, two-assist performance have given PSG the perfect European response.
