Rohit Sharma, KL Rahul train at BCCI CoE as India U19 dominates Australia in series opener

India ODI captain Rohit Sharma and senior opener KL Rahul intensified their preparations at the BCCI Centre of Excellence in Bengaluru, while the country's Under-19 team kicked off their Australia tour with a commanding victory.

The veteran duo engaged in comprehensive skills and strength training sessions at the CoE, formerly known as the National Cricket Academy, as part of their preparation for upcoming assignments. During their training stint, both players simulated different conditions available at the facility, focusing on both technical drills and fitness routines.

Rohit Meets Young Talents

Rohit spent valuable time with India's Under-19 players during his visit, sharing his experience with the touring squad that includes captain Ayush Mhatre and 14-year-old sensation Vaibhav Suryavanshi. The interaction came ahead of the team's departure for their multi-format series against Australia U19.

U19 Team Makes Winning Start

India's Under-19 team made an impressive start to their Australia tour, defeating the hosts by seven wickets in the first Youth ODI at Ian Healy Oval, Brisbane. Wicketkeeper-batter Abhigyan Kundu starred with an unbeaten 87 off 74 balls, including five sixes and eight fours, earning him the Player of the Match award.

Vaibhav Suryavanshi provided early fireworks with a quickfire 38 off 22 balls, featuring seven boundaries. Vedant Trivedi supported with an unbeaten 61, as the pair's 152-run partnership guided India to chase down Australia's 225/9 with 117 balls remaining.

Captain Ayush Mhatre's team took a 1-0 lead in the three-match ODI series, with the second game scheduled for September 24. The tour also includes two four-day matches starting September 30.
