Mumbai Indians star batsman Suryakumar Yadav made a world record of T20 cricket in IPL 2025. Surya created history on Monday during his half-century innings against Punjab Kings in the 69th match of IPL 2025.

Surya scored 25 or more runs for the 14th consecutive time in T20 cricket. He scored 57 runs in 39 balls with the help of six fours and two sixes at the Sawai Mansingh Stadium in Jaipur. Surya has now broken the record of South African captain Temba Bavuma.

Bavuma had scored 25 or more runs 13 times in a row in T20 cricket. Surya made this record by hitting a four on the last ball of the 9th over of the innings by Kyle Jamieson.

All-time record of IPL

With this, Surya has also broken the all-time record of IPL. Suryakumar Yadav has become the batsman to score 25 or more runs consecutively for the most number of times in an IPL season. Sky has scored more than 25 runs in the current IPL 14 times.

Earlier this record was jointly held by Kane Williamson and Shubman Gill. Both Williamson and Gill scored 25 or more 13 times in a season.

Broke 15-year-old record

Suryakumar Yadav also broke the record set by Sachin Tendulkar 15 years ago by scoring a half-century in the match. Surya has become the highest run-scorer for Mumbai Indians in a season of IPL. Tendulkar did this feat in 2010.

Suryakumar Yadav has scored 640 runs in 14 matches in the current season with the help of five half-centuries. At the same time, Master Blaster Sachin Tendulkar scored 618 runs in 2010. Surya scored 605 runs in 2023 and is also at the third position in terms of scoring the most runs for MI in a season.
