The Indian team dominates the Asia Cup held every two years. The Indian team has won this tournament organized by the Asian Cricket Council (ACC) the most number of times. The Asia Cup was established in 1983. A year later, its first event since 1984 was held in Sharjah, United Arab Emirates (UAE).

Since then, this tournament has been played 16 times. During this time, the Indian team has become the champion 8 times. On the other hand, Sri Lanka has won the Asia Cup trophy 6 times and Pakistan team has won it only 2 times. Apart from these three teams, no team has been able to win the Asia Cup so far.

Played in T20 format twice
