Hyderabad: Dhruv Sheoran and local favourite Vishesh Sharma made a stunning start to the Telangana Golconda Masters 2026, carding identical 10-under 60 scores to share the first-round lead at the Hyderabad Golf Association course.The duo holds a one-shot advantage after the opening round of the ₹1 crore tournament, which is part of the DP World Professional Golf Tour of India (PGTI) calendar.

Sheoran records career-best round

Gurugram golfer Dhruv Sheoran delivered the lowest round of his career, finishing with 11 birdies and just one bogey.Starting from the par-five 10th hole, Sheoran produced a remarkable run of five consecutive birdiesfrom the 10th to the 14th hole. He dropped his only shot of the day on the par-four 15th but quickly recovered and played the rest of the round without further mistakes.Sheoran, a winner on the DP World PGTI in 2024, entered the tournament ranked 12th in the 2026 Race to DP World India Championship standings.

Home golfer Vishesh matches record score

Nineteen-year-old Hyderabad golfer Vishesh Sharma matched Sheoran’s score during the afternoon session.Playing in his second season on the DP World PGTI, Vishesh produced a round featuring one eagle, nine birdies and one bogey.His eagle came on the par-five sixth hole, helping him match the course-record score and keep pace with Sheoran at the top of the leaderboard.

Amardeep Malik stays close

Noida’s Amardeep Malik finished just one shot behind the leaders after carding a 9-under 61.The two-time PGTI winner recorded 10 birdies and one bogey to occupy third place after the opening round.Japan’s Koichiro Ishika, playing his first season on the DP World PGTI, was fourth after a bogey-free 7-under 63.Sri Lanka’s N Thangaraja and Delhi’s Honey Baisoya shared fifth place at 6-under 64.

Strong field at Hyderabad Golf Association

The Telangana Golconda Masters 2026 is being played at the Hyderabad Golf Association and carries a prize purse of ₹1 crore. The tournament is scheduled from September 1 to September 4.Defending champion Jamal Hossain of Bangladesh had a difficult opening round, finishing with a two-over 72, while current DP World PGTI rankings leader Saptak Talwar returned an even-par 70.With Sheoran and Vishesh setting the early pace, the tournament now moves into the next rounds with both players looking to maintain their advantage at the top of the leaderboard.
