North Delhi Strikers defended 141/4 to defeat South Delhi Superstarz by 10 runs in the Women's Delhi Premier League 2026 at Arun Jaitley Stadium, moving to the top of the points table with two wins from two matches.
North Delhi Strikers produced a disciplined bowling and fielding performance after posting 141/4. South Delhi Superstarz, chasing 142, finished at 131/5 in their allotted 20 overs. The result gave North Delhi their second consecutive victory and strengthened their position at the top of the Women's DPL standings.
Strikers Post 141 Runs
North Delhi Strikers were asked to bat first and built their innings around a superb unbeaten knock from Shivi Sharma.
Sharma scored 71 not out from 54 balls, hitting nine boundaries. Her innings provided the foundation for North Delhi's competitive total of 141/4.
She received strong support from Upasana Yadav, who scored 43 from 42 deliveries. The pair put together an important opening partnership that helped North Delhi recover from the pressure of building a defendable total.
Captain Ayushi Soni also contributed 17 runs as North Delhi finished with 141 on the board.
Sharma Anchors Innings
Shivi Sharma's unbeaten 71 proved to be the defining batting performance of the contest.
She remained at the crease through the innings and found the boundary regularly while maintaining control during the middle overs. Her partnership with Upasana Yadav gave North Delhi the platform required to put pressure on South Delhi during the chase.
With wickets falling around her late in the innings, Sharma stayed unbeaten and ensured North Delhi reached a total that remained competitive throughout the second innings.
South Delhi Lose Early Wicket
South Delhi Superstarz's chase got off to a difficult start when wicketkeeper-batter Nishika Singh was dismissed for a three-ball duck in the opening over.
Priya Punia and Tanishqa Singh then attempted to rebuild the innings. Punia scored 10 from 18 balls before her dismissal, while Tanishqa took responsibility for anchoring the chase.
The early setback meant South Delhi had to rebuild while also keeping pace with the required run rate.
Tanishqa Leads Fightback
Tanishqa Singh emerged as South Delhi's leading scorer. She made 46 from 44 balls, including six boundaries.
She combined with captain Shweta Sehrawat, who scored 27 from 23 balls, to keep South Delhi within striking distance of the target.
However, North Delhi continued to take wickets at important stages. Tanishqa's dismissal in the 14th over left South Delhi under renewed pressure, while Sehrawat followed soon after.
Strikers Control Final Overs
South Delhi entered the closing stages needing a significant scoring surge. After Sehrawat's dismissal, Ekta Bhadana was removed for four, leaving the Superstarz requiring 28 runs from the final two overs.
Tanisha Singh remained unbeaten on 24 from 19 balls, while Disha Nagar finished unbeaten on nine from six deliveries. Despite their efforts, South Delhi could only reach 131/5.
The 10-run margin underlined North Delhi's effective execution during the final phase of the innings.
Nazma Leads Bowling Attack
Nazma was North Delhi's leading bowler, returning figures of 2/28 from four overs.
Reshika Beniwal, Apeksha Anand and Priya Mishra also claimed one wicket each as North Delhi kept the South Delhi batting line-up under pressure.
The bowling unit's ability to pick up wickets at crucial moments prevented South Delhi from converting its partnerships into a successful chase.
North Delhi Reach Top
The victory gives North Delhi Strikers two wins from two matches, taking them to the top of the Women's Delhi Premier League table.
For South Delhi Superstarz, the defeat came despite promising contributions from Tanishqa Singh and Shweta Sehrawat. Their inability to finish the chase after reaching competitive positions proved decisive.
The result also highlights North Delhi's balanced approach, with Sharma providing the batting foundation and the bowlers defending a modest total successfully.
MATCH TAKEAWAY
North Delhi Strikers produced a composed all-round performance to defend 141/4 and defeat South Delhi Superstarz by 10 runs.
Shivi Sharma's unbeaten 71 was the foundation of the victory, while Nazma's two wickets and timely strikes from the rest of the bowling unit ensured South Delhi finished at 131/5.
With two victories from two matches, North Delhi Strikers now sit at the top of the Women's DPL 2026 points table, giving the team early momentum in the tournament.
