WPL Champion RCB Showered With Crores, Delhi Capitals Also Earn Big Despite Final Loss

Royal Challengers Bengaluru defeated Delhi Capitals to win the Women’s Premier League title for the second time. Mumbai Indians and Royal Challengers Bengaluru have now won the WPL trophy twice each.

Royal Challengers Bengaluru Clinch Second WPL Title

Royal Challengers Bengaluru (RCB) have once again scripted history by winning the Women’s Premier League (WPL) title for the second time. In the final played on February 5 at the BCA Stadium, RCB defeated Delhi Capitals (DC) by six wickets to lift the trophy.

Earlier, RCB had won the WPL title in 2024. Mumbai Indians, on the other hand, emerged champions in the 2023 and 2025 seasons. Delhi Capitals reached the WPL final for the fourth consecutive time but once again failed to cross the final hurdle.

RCB Earn ₹6 Crore as Prize Money

Winning the WPL 2026 title proved to be financially rewarding for RCB as well. The champions were awarded ₹6 crore as prize money. Despite losing the final, Delhi Capitals did not return empty-handed and received ₹3 crore as runners-up for their consistent performance throughout the season.

Notably, the prize money structure has remained unchanged since the inaugural season of the WPL. Mumbai Indians have also earned ₹6 crore each time they won the title, while RCB received the same amount after their triumph in 2024.

Gujarat Giants managed to reach the eliminator this season but were defeated by Delhi Capitals. As a result, Gujarat Giants did not receive any prize money.

Individual Awards and Cash Rewards

Several players were rewarded for their outstanding individual performances during the tournament:

  • Orange Cap (Most Runs): Smriti Mandhana – ₹5 lakh

  • Purple Cap (Most Wickets): Sophie Devine – ₹5 lakh

  • Player of the Tournament: ₹5 lakh

  • Most Sixes: Harmanpreet Kaur – ₹5 lakh

  • Super Striker of the Season: Grace Harris – ₹5 lakh

These awards added further recognition to the stellar performances witnessed in WPL 2026.

Record-Breaking Run Chase in the Final

The WPL 2026 final turned out to be one of the most thrilling matches in the tournament’s history. Batting first, Delhi Capitals posted a massive total of 203 runs, setting a daunting target of 204 for RCB — the highest-ever target in a WPL final.

Defying all odds, Royal Challengers Bengaluru pulled off a historic chase, reaching the target in 19.4 overs with just four wickets down. Smriti Mandhana and Georgia Wareham played crucial knocks, scoring half-centuries and guiding RCB to a memorable title-winning victory.
