As the ICC World Test Championship (WTC) Final 2025 draws closer, excitement among fans continues to build. The final will be played at the iconic Lord’s Cricket Ground starting from June 11.
In May, the International Cricket Council (ICC) announced the prize money for the tournament, and it’s significantly higher than before. The winning team will receive double the amount awarded in the previous edition—more than the prize for the IPL 2024 champion.
This year, the WTC winner will take home a whopping USD 3.6 million, which is approximately ₹30.81 crore. In comparison, when Australia won the WTC Final in 2023, they received USD 1.6 million (around ₹13.69 crore).
The runner-up of the ICC World Test Championship Final 2025 will receive USD 2.1 million (approximately ₹17.96 crore), which is more than the winner’s prize in the previous two editions.
In contrast, the runners-up in the last two editions had received USD 800,000 (around ₹6.84 crore).
In its official statement, the ICC said:
“The increase in prize money reflects the ICC’s continued efforts to prioritize Test cricket, ensuring momentum across the first three cycles of the nine-team championship.”
