₹95 Crore Development Projects Announced in Kondagaon: Buddhist Park and Shiva Temple to Be Built in Bhongpal

In a historic initiative, development projects worth ₹95 crore have been announced for the Bhongpal region in Kondagaon district of Chhattisgarh. With the Chief Minister’s visit, a new chapter of progress is being written in this Naxal-affected area. These projects include the establishment of a Buddhist meditation center, a Shiva temple, and the preservation of ancient heritage sites.

The Chief Minister's visit holds special significance as this was the first time since India's independence that any Chief Minister visited Bhongpal. He arrived by helicopter and was warmly welcomed by villagers. Thousands of people gathered in the open ground to witness this historic moment.

Land of Buddha and Shiva to Symbolize Peace

As part of the announced projects, a modern Buddhist park will be established where monks can practice meditation. Additionally, a grand Shiva temple is also proposed for construction. The region, once known for violence, is now set to become a center of peace, meditation, and culture.

Speaker of the Legislative Assembly, Dr. Raman Singh, stated that this is a unique place where followers of both Buddha and Shiva have coexisted for years. Keshkal MLA Neelkanth Tekam requested the conservation of sixth-century heritage sites, a proposal readily accepted by the Chief Minister.

From Naxal Stronghold to Tourism Hub

Under the declared project, ancient monuments in Bhongpal and nearby areas will be preserved and developed as tourist attractions. Notably, Barda village, once the stronghold of the Naxalite group 'Barda Dalam', will now transform into a center of spiritual retreat and devotion.

This project marks not only the beginning of social and cultural development in the region but also sends a strong message that the state government is committed to bringing Naxal-affected areas into the mainstream.
