Illegal Sand Mining Shootout: Accused Nabbed in MP

Another accused in the illegal sand mining shootout has been arrested in Madhya Pradesh. Authorities have also recovered a country-made pistol, advancing the investigation into the case.
In the illegal sand mining shootout case, the police has achieved a major success by arresting another accused. The police has arrested the accused Krishna alias Goli Gurjar from Madhya Pradesh and brought him to Rajnandgaon. A country-made pistol and live cartridges have been recovered from the accused's possession. The accused is a habitual criminal, crimes have been registered against him earlier as well. So far 8 people have been arrested in this case.
Amidst ineffective action against illegal sand mining and transportation in Chhattisgarh, the mafia carried out the shootout. The incident took place on the night of June 11 between 7 and 7:30 pm, when a ramp was being built with a JCB for illegal sand extraction on the banks of the village Mohad river. The sand mafia attacked the villagers who came to protest against it and opened fire. A youth named Roshan Mandavi was seriously injured in this firing. The bullet passed through his neck, after which he was admitted to the Medical College Hospital. Two other villagers Jitendra Sahu and Om Prakash Sahu were also injured.
After the incident, a case was registered in Basantpur police station under various sections of BNS, Arms Act and Mining Act and the police started investigating. Police seized three empty cartridges, the front part of the bullet and JCB and Hiva vehicle (CG 08 AT 5089) from the spot. In the case, a joint 5 team was formed on the instructions of Superintendent of Police Mohit Garg. The accused were continuously raiding different hideouts in Uttar Pradesh Jhansi, Nagpur, Bhopal, Indore, Gwalior, Bhind, Morena etc.
Action taken so far
Taking this firing incident seriously, the police has already arrested JCB driver Bhagwati Nishad, Sanjay Rajak, (vehicle owner) Abhinav Tiwari, Atul Singh Tomar, Jitendra Naraulia, Aman Singh Parihar and Abhay Singh Tomar. The accused have been sent to District Jail Rajnandgaon on judicial remand. The police were searching for other absconding accused.
